Organizational/ Departmental Assessments
KOSO utilizes a multifaceted assessment framework that recognizes that the Tribe is a system of interconnected functions. Whether for the Tribe as a whole or for an individual department, KOSO’s assessment framework will explore strategic alignment, organizational structure, capacity, communication channel effectiveness, resource allotment, operational efficiency, as well as other dimensions as requested by the Tribe.
Workflow/ Process Improvement
Improving the Tribe’s workflows and processes begins with KOSO identifying and assessing the Tribe’s administrative processes and workflows. To optimize the workflows/processes, KOSO aims to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, transparency, and cost of the Tribe’s existing workflows/processes.
Strategic Planning
Strategic planning is conceiving the overall vision of the Tribe to achieve the Tribe’s goals and then devising a formal method to transform these goals into results. KOSO’s strategic planning facilitation and implementation services assist Tribal Leaders in developing a vision/mission statement, organizational values, strategic objectives, and goals.
Departmental Strategic Planning
Execution of strategic plans can be difficult as getting all Tribal departments on board can be challenging. KOSO takes it a step further and works with individual departments to align the Tribe’s overall strategic plan with each department’s goals, objectives, and resources to ensure all efforts of the Tribe’s departments advance the goals of the Tribe.
Capacity Building
Capacity building improves the Tribe’s organizational performance through the development and strengthening of employee skills, abilities, processes, and resources. KOSO can achieve this through personalized mentorship, training, on the job training, guidance and coaching of both employees and executive leadership. KOSO can provide personalized capacity building onsite, remotely or at a location of the Tribe’s choosing and offers post training support and best practices solutions.
Role Vacancy Support
When roles critical to the Tribe’s success are vacant, KOSO can temporarily step into these roles to fill the gap until a qualified applicant can be onboarded. This critical service ensures the Tribe can continue to operate successfully while actively recruiting.
Accounting/ Audit Preparation Services
KOSO provides oversight services of Tribal Accounting Departments to help maintain accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of the accounting system and to provide the Tribal Council and Management with accurate financial information. KOSO assists with the reconciliation of financial records in preparation for the independent or programmatic audit, ensuring the Tribe’s readiness for audits, reducing the risk of discrepancies and non-compliance.
Policy & Procedure Development/ Implementation
Consistent and transparent Tribal operations rely on having up to date and legally compliant policies and procedures. KOSO provides customized Human Resources, Finance and programmatic policies and procedures whether from starting with having no policies or providing amendments and updates to existing policies. KOSO also provides policy and procedure implementation support to assist the Tribe with rolling out new or updated policies and procedures and the change management support required for a successful implementation.
